Pete and Vic visit The White House

So check out the pristine white look! It's sealer of course. Very white, very cold, very odd and lifeless. I always wondered what it would be like to have an all white house and now I know. And that's all I need to know. Time for some colour tomorrow!

Pete and Vic were both here today tinkering with the electrical while I had to dash off to work in Abby. In addition to all the work they did today with hordes of plugs and switches, they surprised me with a new outlet behind my 'one day in my dreams' flatscreen for my bedroom!!!! I'm so excited about that plug and cable outlet. (You're right, I don't get out much) This house is true 2008 now!! Thanks so so so much guys!

I'm still trying to figure out how the plug was done. (yes, I take up part of my valuable day to figure those kinds of things out) I see abit of sawdust but don't see any new holes anywhere. I was in the bathroom picking up a towel after Cody's bath and said, "Code, where did you have this?!? It's full of sawdust!" "Mom, I didn't do it! The guys that came did! See, look at the floor all over!" LOL You 'guys' are so busted cuz Cody said.

And I can't wait to try out my new fancy GFCGFI whatever plug in for my blowdryer. To not have it click off randomly when it just feels like it will be such a major treat!!! Last few days I've been blowdrying my hair in Cody's room, sitting on the floor. I won't know what to do with myself when this place is actually fully functional.

So, just a quick update to show off more progress today. Signing off until, well, probably tomorrow. Things are happening daily right now so there's lots to report!

I'm just feeling really blessed today. Pete, thanks so much for spending your valuable day off at this place. Vic, thanks again, over and over.

Now I just wish I could get you guys to eat something...

How unfussy can a floor get?

Plywood and crappy lino floors are fun!

I've lived with my patchwork quilt flooring now for approx 4 years, the plywood for 3. And knowing they are about to make an exit from this place in mere weeks, I'm starting to have fun with them!

I mean, where else can you...

...leave fun notes for friends...

... slop paint on them and smile after...

and laugh at the indestructable stucco patch you can't remove without a grinder on most given surfaces.

It's been fun not being anal clean with these floors over the last while. And they've stayed amazingly clean for not washing the plywood sections. We were a non shoes kinda home before the renos started. I think I'll be able to retrain us just fine when the need arrives. But for the time being with currently only a couple floors to really wipe up and take proper care of, I'm going to continue to enjoy how unfussy this house currently is.

Just think, in a matter of weeks, I'll have 5x the amount of floors to actually wash!

I 'think' I like that idea...

Messy means progress!

The house was especially ugly today. And that's mainly because I've been too busy working on it to clean and organize it. Got a paper from school? Throw it on the ever growing piles. Where's the stucco patch stuff? Dunno. Broom? Buried. A clean spot to eat? Sit it on your lap while your lap is clean at the moment. Clean socks? Not applicable.

Things have currently been pushed towards the center of the room so I can get at all the walls, for it's ceiling and wall painting time! So there are a series of mazes throughout the main living area. It's a little tricky living in the same spot you are renovating in. Imagine how the poor workers feel working in this as well.

The above is our upstairs toolbox. Who needs sides I say. Just let things spread sideways so stuff is easier to find.

Here Cody has found like about 2 feet to sit on to watch a little TV. I'm so amazed he's such a good sport. I ask him from time to time... "Code, do you find it hard to live in the house with so much mess?" "No mom. Can I have lunch now?" I love my kid.

Vic yanked off this lovely railing for me today so I could paint the walls with ease. I couldn't fire them out the door fast enough.

And Jake came over in the AM to add screws to the floors in preparation for the hardwood flooring. Thanks to both of you!

Currently, it's a painting marathon in the house for myself. I've now completed the upstairs ceiling, and it's walls next. First a coat of sealer, then the paint. (I picked out ANOTHER colour just yesterday.. needed a bit less pink in the taupe in the main area. I think this is it. (this colour stuff is getting old)

Tonight I put down the paint cans to attend and donate to a fundraiser for a family in need. Their 12 year old son Cole was nearly fatally hurt in a quad accident and may never walk again and is spending up to a year in Children's Hospital. He is currently strapped to a bed. I can't even imagine. The fundraiser was held in a massive barn with silent auctions, live auctions, dinner and music. Amazing.. for every dollar I contributed, I came home with donated gifts! I purchased home baking, 'won' video games for Cody, and just generally was able to be a part of and witness such a giving group of folks. Really puts things in better perspective when you see someone else's story. It's times like these you wish you could do so much more in a financial sense, for that's really what they need.

Anyway, back to the renos, I've started a new slide show from October 2008 and on with new photos. Be sure to check it out often! Photos will be added as we quickly progress. With less than a month to go before the floors are in and the kitchen arrives, it's going to get pretty exciting!

So while we continue to mess up the house some, things are more importantly getting completed. That right there is worth every spec of dust.
